The purpose of this program is to help Law Enforcement and other first responders communicate more efficiently with citizens who have Autism System Disorders. In order to accomplish this, the program includes the following:
* Families living with an autistic child or adult can complete the downloadable form below and return it to
the Sheriff's Office Communications Center. The information will be entered into the 911 call screen for
the address on the form. The form addresses sensory issues and inclination for wandering.
* To assist emergency responders when the family is mobile, an alert sticker has been developed that can
be placed on the family's vehicle. The sticker will alert the first responders that an autistic person may be
inside. The recommended location for the sticker is on the rear window, on the driver's side of the vehicle.
The sticker must be placed so it does not obstruct the driver's view.
* All items are free of charge to residents of Medina County with autistic family members.
* Items can be picked up at the Sheriff's Office reception desk during normal business hours. Limited
quantities of these items will also be available at many of the community events that the Sheriff's
Office participates in.
