The Medina County Sheriff's Civil Division is located on the lower
level of the Medina County Prosecutor's Building, which is at
72 Public Square, Medina, Ohio. |

| RESPONSIBILITIES: |
Per the Ohio Revised Code, the Sheriff is required to support the county municipal courts in the enforcement and service of court orders and civil & criminal documents. |

| SHERIFF SALES: |
All Sheriff Sales are held at the Medina County Community Center, which is located at 735 Lafayette Road, Medina, Ohio. For more information and a listing of upcoming sales, check out our Sheriff Sale Listing on our website.

Opening bids start at 2/3rds of the appraisal value (this is a verbal Bid). No property can be sold for less than 2/3rds the appraisal value.

10% of the bid price is due at the time of the sale. The balance is due in 30 days.

The Sheriff's Department accepts personal checks. However, if a personal check is written for the balance of the money, this will hold the deed for at least a 10 day period.

Once the Sheriff's Department receives the money and the conformation of sale, the deed can be picked up.

You cannot see the inside of the properties for sale, as the defendant owns them.

Info on lot size, # of rooms, year built, etc. can be obtained from the auditor's office for a small fee using the permanent parcel number. Location of property can be researched at the Tax Map Office. Federal tax liens are filed in the Medina County Recorder's office and Case Files are located in the Clerk of Courts office, and can be researched in the respective offices.

For property transferred in the respective year as a result of Sheriff sales, all delinquent taxes and respective year taxes will be paid by the Sheriff's Department and ordered by the Courts. Any further questions contact the Medina County Treasurer's Office.

The purchaser is responsible for a $50.00 Deed Fee to the Sheriff.

OTHER DUTIES INCLUDE: |

Inspecting county junk yards, tow storage lots, and tow trucks utilized by the Sheriff's Office.

Providing security at domestic situations for removal of personal or business property (better known as "stand-by-assists").

Escorting of other county departments with money deposits and shipments of food stamps.

Disposing of abandoned vehicles in Medina County; such as vehicles abandoned along highways and trailers abandoned at campgrounds.
